It’s that time of year again in Wilmore, KY – time for the Coaster Car Derby! Never participated in Wilmore’s Coaster Car Derby day? Well, during this fun-filled day, children and youth are invited to race down East Main Street in derby cars provided by local sponsors.
Participants 7 and older are permitted to partake in racing their coaster cars down East Main Street, which will be closed to other traffic. Kids of all ages can enjoy and learn about this complicated but simple sport. This unique tradition of racing coaster cars is nearly 100 years old!
Wilmore’s Coaster Car Derby will take place on April 27, 2019. Check-in and trial runs begin at 11 a.m., and the races starts at 1 p.m. Thanks to local sponsorship, this is a free event to take part in. While watching the races, check out many of the great shops and businesses in downtown including the new coffee shop, Drinklings Coffee and Mugs.
